Greed God

Today I want to talk about how greed can fog your righteous thought. I decided to start this blog to express all my inner thoughts without any inhibitions, care or worry. However the moment I saw a opportunity to make money, I was ready to give up my anonymity and thereby risk my independent thought.

As I finished my previous post-"Anonymity-The Superpower", I saw an opportunity to earn some bucks my displaying advertisements on my blog page. The opportunity came through Goggle's AddSense.

To register for Addsense, I had to provide my mail id, full name, etc. I think all this information is kept confidential by Google, but look how easily I was ready to divulge these information in exchange for monetary benefits.

So greed proved to be stronger than my need for uninhibited expression of thought. The previous statement if not completely true is definitely partially true. Greed definitely seems to be overpowering when in the thick of all worldly things. I see greed defeated or ignored only when I am at peace or am looking at life philosophically.

Everything seems to go in circles- I can overcome greed only when I am at peace; I will be at peace when I can overcome among other things, greed.

So how can I overcome greed? To put it very bluntly, be less ambitious. People sugar coat the previous statement with phrases like "count your blessings" or "be grateful for the good life". Put however, the bottom line is to be less ambitious and less aggressive. People use mild phrases to not go against success mantras which equates success with ambitions, aggression and big goals.

Sometimes I question all these mantras for success, power and material wealth but no peace of mind.

Coming back to my case, my application for AddSense got rejected (I guess my blogs had insufficient material or something). Thanks to fate, I was able to step back and do some introspection and get my head cleared. Don't deviate from the goal-Write your heart out.
